Harris Health Lyndon B. Johnson (LBJ) Hospital has a long, rich history in Northeast Harris County, providing care in this underserved area.
Known for its neonatal intensive care services for high-risk babies, LBJ operates one of the busiest Level III trauma centers in Texas. LBJ is among a short list of U.S. hospitals that has earned Magnet Recognition® for its nursing excellence, and earned numerous awards for its progressive programs, including its ever-expanding Community Farm at LBJ Hospital, to improve people's access to compassionate care, healthy foods and chronic care management.
To preserve and expand LBJ Hospital's impact and to ensure that we meet the future needs of the community, Harris Health is investing in the complete transformation of the LBJ campus.
A recent facility assessment revealed that the 33-year-old hospital is nearing the end of its useful life. Ultimately, the campus plans call for two towers, a central utility plant, and a parking garage to provide a more comprehensive range of high-level medical, social and mental health care and outpatient services.
